Narutodle: Classic, Jutsu, Eye and Quote modes — affiliation, nature and debut-arc feedback, and how to read it

The Classic columns

The client's Classic table has seven columns after the name: Gender (Male, Female or Other), Affiliations (Konoha, Akatsuki, Kiri, Oto, Kumo, Suna and smaller values; can hold several), Jutsu Types, Kekkei Genkai (the *type* of bloodline ability, if any), Nature Types, Attributes (labels such as Jinchūriki or Sage) and Debut Arc. The glossary below lists each column's values.

The help screen's colours: green is an exact match, orange a partial match, red no overlap, and an arrow says whether the answer's value is above or below your guess. Only Debut Arc carries an arrow. Of the 105 roster characters, 60 list Konoha — 52 with no other affiliation — so a red on a Konoha guess removes more than any other single cell.

Reading a partial match on Nature Types

The client applies one rule to every multi-value column: green only if your guess's set and the answer's set are identical; orange if at least one of your values is in the answer's set; red if none are. An orange on a Fire-and-Wind guess means the answer has Fire or Wind, possibly with others; a red removes both at once. Two traps come from the data. Seventeen characters — Naruto, Kakashi, Sasuke, Madara and Hashirama among them — are listed with all five natures, so guessing one turns the column orange for nearly any answer. And 27 characters have None, which only matches None. A patch note in the client says natures were updated to count the anime and special episodes.

A first guess that narrows the cast

Debut Arc is the only ordered column, and the roster is front-loaded: 40 of 105 characters debut in the Prologue or the Chūnin Exams. The other columns matter more. Running every roster character as an opener against every possible answer and counting how many characters stay consistent with the feedback gives an average of about 1.9 for Asuma Sarutobi or Kiba Inuzuka, 2.0 for Shikamaru Nara, 3.8 for Kakashi Hatake and 11.0 for the Ten-Tails — assuming every character were equally likely.

Good openers are single-affiliation Konoha characters with two or three natures and a common Jutsu Types set, so each column splits the roster instead of returning one colour for everyone.

Jutsu, Eye and Quote

Jutsu asks which character performs a jutsu. The help screen says the animation is a GIF from the anime and that each try unblurs the image a bit; the mode also has Display colors, Max blur and Grey filter settings.

Eye shows a character's eye very zoomed in, and each try zooms out a little. Of the 41 Eye answers in our files (#853–#893), 6 had Dôjutsu as their Kekkei Genkai type.

Quote asks who said a line, which the help screen says can come from the manga or the anime. After five tries the client unlocks a Recipient clue — who the line is said to, or "Inner thought" — and after eight an Arc clue naming the story arc in which it was said.

Villages, affiliations, and where the roster concentrates

Konoha dominates both the roster and our archive: 60 of 105 roster characters list it, and 25 of the 41 Classic answers recorded from 2 September to 11 October 2026 (#853–#893) were Konoha characters. Next in the roster come Akatsuki (18), Kiri (11), Oto and Kumo (8 each) and Suna (6).

Akatsuki is its own affiliation, and 19 characters carry more than one. A guess with two affiliations returns orange whenever either matches, so one Akatsuki member with a home village tests two values at once.

Regions and reset

Narutodle's Time zone setting offers Europe (midnight at UTC+2) and America (midnight at UTC−6). Both play the same numbered sequence: every puzzle number that appears in both regions in our files has the same answers in all four modes, and America, reaching midnight first, is one number ahead for part of each day — the same number on 24 of our 40 dated files, America ahead on 16. The answer page lists both with numbers. Glossary

Terms as the game uses them.

• Affiliations — the character's main affiliations; can hold several values, so partial (orange) matches are possible.
• Nature Types — chakra natures mastered: Fire, Wind, Lightning, Earth, Water or None; multi-valued.
• Kekkei Genkai — in Classic, the type of bloodline ability: Dôjutsu, Nature Transformation, Body Enhancement or None. The name of the ability is not a column.
• Jutsu Types — the main styles: Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, Genjutsu or None; multi-valued.
• Debut Arc — the arc of first appearance, defined in the client by chapter ranges from the Prologue (chapters 1–33) to The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring (700.1–709.1).
• Attributes — labels such as Jinchūriki, Sage, Missing-nin, Medical-nin, Summon, Mercenary Ninja and Tailed Beast, or None.

An opener, measured

Measure an opener against the roster rather than picking a favourite. Kakashi Hatake — Konoha, all three jutsu types, Dôjutsu, all five natures, Prologue debut — produces 56 different feedback patterns across the 105 possible answers and leaves about 3.8 characters on average. Shikamaru Nara — Konoha, Ninjutsu, no Kekkei Genkai, Fire and Earth, Chūnin Exams — produces 67 and leaves 2.0. The difference is mostly Nature Types: five natures turn the column orange for nearly everyone. The weakest openers are the Ten-Tails (11.0) and Gyuki (10.5).

The recognition modes, ranked

Ranked by what the client gives you after a miss.

• Quote — two text clues: the line's recipient after five tries and its story arc after eight.
• Jutsu — each try unblurs the anime GIF a little; no text clue.
• Eye — each try zooms out a little; no text clue.

Reader questions

"Does the roster include Boruto?" No. The client's Debut Arc table ends at chapter 709.1, and the latest roster debut is chapter 679.

"Is there a Rank column?" Not in the current Classic table. The roster data still carries a rank field, but the seven columns shown are the ones listed above.

"Why did Affiliations turn orange?" Your guess and the answer share at least one affiliation but not all — for example a village and Akatsuki against a village alone.

A Classic game, computed

Gaara was the Classic answer for puzzle #859 (America on 7 September 2026, Europe on 8 September). Opening with Kakashi Hatake returns Gender green, Affiliations red (Konoha against Suna), Jutsu Types orange, Kekkei Genkai red (Dôjutsu against Nature Transformation), Nature Types orange, Attributes red (None against Jinchūriki) and Debut Arc red with an up arrow (chapter 3 against 35). Only six roster characters fit: Deidara, Gaara, Kisame Hoshigaki, Killer B, Utakata and Yagura Karatachi.

Temari next returns Gender red, Affiliations green, Jutsu Types green, Kekkei Genkai red, Nature Types orange, Attributes red and Debut Arc green; of the six, only Gaara fits. The reds did the narrowing, not the oranges.

Reading the Debut Arc column against chapter numbers

The cell shows an arc name, but the comparison uses chapter numbers: green when both debut chapters fall in the same arc, otherwise an arrow toward the answer's chapter. Arcs are uneven — Chūnin Exams spans chapters 34–115, Kakashi Gaiden 239–244 — so a green on a long arc says less. Temari (chapter 34) and Gaara (35) match green, while a chapter-33 debut is Prologue and would show an up arrow. The table above gives the boundaries.

A month's answers

Our files hold 41 Classic puzzles, #853 to #893 (2 September–11 October 2026). All 41 answers are different characters, and no character answered two modes on the same number. By debut, 13 came from the Chūnin Exams, 6 from the Prologue and 4 from the Five Kage Summit; 31 were male, 9 female and 1 Other (the Ten-Tails, #853). That describes six weeks, not a prediction.

Rank, and why the game has no such column

The roster data still carries a ninja-rank field, but the Classic table shows no rank. The closest signal is Attributes: Missing-nin covers 13 characters (Itachi, Madara, Obito and Sasuke Uchiha, Orochimaru, Kabuto, Zabuza and others), Jinchūriki 14, Sage 13; 61 have None. A match on a small label such as Tailed Beast (three characters) is nearly decisive.

An opener, restated

The short version: open with a Konoha-only character with two natures, no Kekkei Genkai, no attributes and a Chūnin Exams debut — Shikamaru, Choji, Shino or Asuma. Change every red column and follow the arrow. The client unlocks a vital-status clue after six guesses and an occupation clue after nine.

Reader questions, third round

"Are summons and tailed beasts in the pool?" Yes. Kurama, Gyuki, the Ten-Tails and Katsuyu are in the roster; four of the five Other-gender entries are among them, the fifth being Black Zetsu.

"Which mode suits a Naruto newcomer?" Classic: its colours work from attribute values alone, as the computed example shows.
