Smashdle is the Super Smash Bros. entry in the Dle family: one fighter from the Ultimate roster per day, four modes. Classic gives attribute feedback — the fighter's home series, the game they debuted in, their weight class, fighter number and a few more — after each guess. Emoji describes the fighter in emoji revealed one at a time. Final Smash shows a crop of the Final Smash animation. Kirby shows what Kirby looks like after copying the fighter's ability, which is the most charming mode in any Dle game and also, for anyone who hasn't memorised eighty-nine hats, one of the hardest.

The Classic columns
The roster is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's — 89 fighters including DLC, Echo fighters counted separately. The columns: Series (Mario, Zelda, Pokémon, Fire Emblem, third-party…), Debut Smash game (64, Melee, Brawl, 3DS/Wii U, Ultimate), Weight class (light, medium, heavy, with the numeric weight behind it), Fighter number (the official numbering, with an arrow), Gender, and Species. Green is exact; red is no match; the arrow on fighter number points toward the answer.
Fighter number is the strongest column because it orders the whole roster and the arrow halves it. Series is the second strongest on a green — Fire Emblem and Pokémon each have a cluster of fighters, so a green on either leaves a handful — but a red on Series eliminates only that series.
An opener for the Ultimate roster
Pick a fighter with a middle number — around 40–45, the Brawl era — of medium weight, from a series with several representatives. That arrangement makes the number arrow, the debut column and the weight column all informative on the first guess. Then move every red column and follow the arrow. Three guesses is typical; the two hard cases are Echo fighters (whose attributes nearly duplicate a base fighter) and the DLC fighters at the top of the numbering, where a ↑ arrow leaves the last dozen.
- Smash 64: fighters 1–12. The originals — Mario through Jigglypuff. Light or medium weight, mostly Nintendo first-party.
- Melee: 13–26. Adds the Fire Emblem lords, the Pokémon Trainer's kin, and the first Echo (Dr. Mario).
- Brawl: 27–44. Third-party arrives — Snake, Sonic. Heavier average weight.
- 3DS / Wii U: 45–63. Mega Man, Pac-Man, Ryu, Cloud, Bayonetta — the roster broadens beyond Nintendo.
- Ultimate base and DLC: 64–82 plus Echoes. Ridley, King K. Rool, Joker, Sora. The ↑ arrow from a Brawl-era guess lands here.
Emoji, Final Smash and Kirby
Emoji reveals a new emoji with each miss. The first is usually the series (a mushroom, a Triforce, a Poké Ball); the second the fighter's signature — a sword, a gun, a cape. Two emoji generally suffice for anyone who knows the roster.
Final Smash shows a still from the Final Smash cinematic, zoomed. The colour palette and any visible character gives the series; the composition (a beam, a cutscene, a transformation) narrows the fighter. Fighters whose Final Smash is a generic cinematic — many of the third-party ones — are the hard days.
Kirby shows Kirby wearing the copy ability. Hat shape is everything: Link's cap, Samus's helmet, Pikachu's ears are instant; the Fire Emblem lords' hairstyles are not. Guessing a fighter from the same series as your first miss is the productive move, because Kirby hats within a series share features.
Kirby hats, by how fast they identify the fighter
The Kirby mode is a recognition test with a learnable answer key. Roughly:
- Instant: Link's cap, Samus's helmet, Pikachu's ears, Mario's hat and moustache, Sonic's quills, Mega Man's helmet.
- A second look: the Fire Emblem lords (hair colour and tiara distinguish them), the Pokémon (Squirtle's shell, Charizard's horns), Kirby's own rivals (King Dedede's hat, Meta Knight's mask).
- Genuinely hard: the human fighters with plain hair — Ryu, Ken, Terry, Little Mac — and the Miis, whose hats are generic. Guess the series first from any accessory, then the fighter.

Regions and reset
Smashdle runs two daily puzzles, Europe and America, with different fighters and consecutive numbers (Europe #1092, America #1093 on 3 September 2026). Both reset at midnight UTC. The answer page lists both, labelled. Smashdle shares its interface and its infrastructure with Pokedle and LoLdle; if you play those, the feedback logic is identical.
Echo fighters and the Classic column trap
Echo fighters — Dark Samus, Richter, Chrom, Dark Pit, Daisy, Lucina, Ken — share almost every attribute with their base fighter: series, debut game (often), weight class, species. A guess of the base fighter against an Echo answer returns green across most columns and a fighter-number arrow pointing at the Echo's higher number. When you see a near-all-green board with a ↑ on fighter number, guess the Echo. The reverse is also true: an Echo guess with a ↓ arrow means the base fighter.
Smashdle since launch
The puzzle numbers — #1,092 for Europe on 3 September 2026 — put the game's start in late 2023. Modes have changed: an early Silhouette mode was replaced by Kirby, and Final Smash was added in 2024. The roster is fixed at Ultimate's; there's no sign of the game expanding to earlier titles' exclusive fighters (Pichu and Young Link are in Ultimate anyway). A Classic game, narrated
Europe #1092's answer was Piranha Plant. Opener Ike — male, Fire Emblem, Brawl debut, heavy, fighter 32, human. Feedback: Gender green, Series red, Debut red, Weight yellow (medium — the game grades weight in bands, and yellow means one band off), Number ↑, Species red. So: a male non-human, not Fire Emblem, not a Brawl debut, medium weight, number above 32.
Second guess Inkling — 3DS/Wii U era? No, Ultimate debut, fighter 64. Species: Inkling. Weight: medium-light. Feedback: Series red, Debut green (Ultimate), Weight yellow, Number ↑ still, Species red. An Ultimate-debut male non-human above 64, medium-heavy.
Third guess King K. Rool — 67, heavy, Donkey Kong series, Ultimate. Weight red (too heavy), Number ↓ … wait, ↑ means higher than 64 and K. Rool is 67; if the arrow now says ↓ the answer is 65 or 66: Ridley (65) or Simon (66) — both male, both Ultimate. Ridley is a space dragon, Simon is human; Species red on Ike (human) rules out Simon. Ridley? But Ridley is heavy. The answer was Piranha Plant, fighter 70, whose number is above 67 — so the arrow was ↑, not ↓, and the fourth guess Piranha Plant (70, Mario series, Ultimate DLC, medium, plant) lands. Four guesses. The Species column carried it; Piranha Plant is the only 'plant'.
The weight column, explained
Smashdle grades weight in bands — light, medium-light, medium, medium-heavy, heavy — from the game's numeric weight values. Yellow means adjacent band; red means two or more bands away. That makes weight a mild ordered column: two yellows in a row from opposite sides bracket the answer's band. It's rarely decisive on its own, but it eliminates the extremes (Bowser, Pichu) quickly, and it's the column that separates Echo fighters from their bases in a few cases (Chrom is lighter than Roy).

A green on Series is only decisive if the series is small. The counts, for reading a green.

Emoji mode: the first emoji is the series
Smashdle's emoji strings follow a house style: the first emoji names the series or the fighter's world (a mushroom, a Triforce, a Poké Ball, a sword for Fire Emblem, a star for Kirby), the second names the fighter's signature (a hammer, a gun, a cape, a shell), and any third is a joke. So the first emoji is worth a series guess, and the second is worth the fighter. Two guesses is par; one is common for the big series' headline fighters.
Saturday and Sunday boards
Smashdle's setters — the same developer as the rest of the family — lean toward headline fighters midweek and reach for Echoes, Miis and DLC at the weekend. Weekend Classic answers are where the Echo trap (a near-all-green board with an arrow on fighter number) shows up most, and where the Kirby mode is hardest because the hats belong to the less familiar fighters. If you keep a streak, Saturday is the day to open with a DLC-era fighter rather than a Brawl-era one.

- Human — the largest group by far: the Fire Emblem lords, the fighting-game guests, the Belmonts, Snake, Bayonetta, Joker, Sora and more. A red here is the biggest elimination.
- Animal / creature — Fox, Falco, Wolf, Diddy, Donkey Kong, Banjo, Sonic, Incineroar and the Pokémon; a green narrows to a dozen.
- Robot / android — R.O.B., Mega Man, Samus (in armour, as the game classifies her), Mewtwo? No — Mewtwo is a Pokémon. A small group.
- Plant, ghost, blob, deity, dragon — one or two fighters each: Piranha Plant, the Ice Climbers' … no, Kirby (puffball), Ridley (dragon), Palutena (goddess). A green here is the answer.

Their own series — Sonic, Metal Gear, Street Fighter — which are one- or two-fighter series, so a green there is decisive.
